[ENG]

Browsing through the web you can read about Darius Ciuta as professional architect or an(other?) interesting sound artist come out from Kaunas, Lithuania, and going on with his peculiar skill to give to the compositions suggestive structures and rarefied atmospheres. These few lines could definitely fit with Darius Ciuta, if superficiality is already enough for you. Actually is not easy at all to contain, with simple words, Ciuta and his work in a definition and you’d need more than a mindful listening even just to try to do it. With the publication of IIN we want to give you chance to explore his fascinating and complex world, a journey through a timeless and spaceless land, a sound novel narrated by Ciuta who, in spite of his being an architect, in the compositional structures seems to tend to the complete disintegration of elements of the Acousmatic music, rebuilt togheter in a new form of aural path through imaginative environments. A continuous alternation of silences, thin rumbles, pauses and irruptions led by almost ectoplasmatic dynamics, which perfectly reveal the geometrical balance between the involved sound objects with their delicacy. A dimension in which particles and details become main components and main components seem, from time to time, to bring themselves on a hypothetical background, apparently overshadowed but actually still clearly present. Now you are maybe wondering how is possible not to find negative aspects to bring out from this album. Well, effectively there’s a one: you only have the time that’s sufficient to sell out the limited number of copies, if you want to make yours this excellent work. And in your place we wouldn’t miss it.

[ITA]

Arsenale delle Apparizioni is the last work by Andrea Valle, realized in 2010 and finally available by digital download on Nephogram.net. Cotrone by Fura dels Baus’ founder Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca is a an interactive performanceinspired by Pirandello’s Mountain Giants. Made up of interactive videos and enhanced embodied technologies, the work is anyhow rooted in a delirant,
almost archaic imagery. Following Marcel·lí pathway, Arsenale delle Apparizioni sees the light. Entirely made of sampled sounds from found objects, domestic percussions, toy instruments, with the inclusion of lo-fi audio devices, Arsenale delle Apparizioni traces out a map between Rhythm and Algorhitm in an unavoidable match between primeval and contemporary feelings, providing a clear example of a unique aesthetic applied to music and sound.

[ITA]

[ENG]
LOMOFIELD proposes an alternative reportage system divided in two acts: the performance which provides a collection of lomographic materialsand field recordings. The experience where gathered images and sounds are shown as an exhibition. Through the practice of field recordings the audience can appreciate images in a more dynamical way, being involved into the shot that become a performative act itself.

Pathline #1 is an audiovisual work by Franz Rosati and Leila Bahlouri. It represents a virtual creature with its own behavior, sound and form, used as a synthetic metaphor to depict a mutation from a natural organic landscape to an artificial urban landscape. The visual structure, composed by simple lines and dots reminds us a vegetal agglomeration such as the branch of the trees or moss agglomerate, and it morphs following those natural rules, in a constant balance between chaos and order, through three steps in which is the sound to give voice to the tension of the morphing structure. Spasms, tortions, vibrations and high speed rotations, generates distorted sound and out of control sounds of nature, suffocated by the noises of a breathing city, through crescendos and sudden comebacks to silence. Probabilistic distributions and chaos theory, become the necessary technological tool to portray a concept beneath the daily life but anyway existing as an unchanging rule out of time.

Rhegma skip from dark minimal techno to dreamlike melodic interludes, all with a microsonic approach which is characteristic of the artist. ‘Fracture’ is hypnotic and disorientating, leading the listener into a rhythmic frame of mind, until offstep changes break the trance. ‘Rubble’ is a deep and unrelenting wall of bass and chattering glitches, while ‘Ikon-freeze’ begins with sketches of rhythm before dropping a deep and unsettling bass drone. Completing the journey through the EP, the listener is rewarded with the melodic and melancholic ‘Re.Cut’ and eased back into the world.
